Rowing Into 2024: The State of Brand Vaughan Lumber
Randy Hanscom
Brand Vaughan Lumber is more than just a lumber company — it is a testament of tradition, culture, and excellence. Established in 1946, we have a rich history of providing quality building materials to customers in Georgia and beyond. At the same time, we have worked hard on developing our company’s culture, which is deeply rooted in our core values of integrity, reliability, and customer satisfaction. Our main goal remains to be the best place for our employees while also contributing to the communities we serve.
This year, Brand Vaughan Lumber is taking a moment to reset and further commit to our values, making sure that both older and newer employees understand and uphold the same values to keep our company culture consistent and strong. We also remain dedicated to our commitment to making every team member feel heard, valued and like they are an integral part of our BVL team.
Like every year, we have begun 2024 with our State of Brand Vaughan meeting, where we went back to our roots and reinforced our long-standing company culture for all our team members, no matter the time they have spent at BVL. We reviewed the past years and presented and recapped the goals for this year.
A Review of the Past Year
As we row into 2024, reflecting on our past year’s successes, challenges and wins is very important. Despite the uncertainties, we are happy that our team has managed to thrive. The company has also integrated into one operating system, constantly upgraded the quality of the products and the services we provide and navigated the industry-wide supply chain challenges with resilience.
All of this helped us not only survive but also thrive in a competitive market. We know the importance of cultivating a positive work culture, and we work hard to enhance the well-being of our team, our customers, and our communities. This helped us become a better provider of high-quality products and services.
Passing Out the Row the Boat Award
One of the highlights of our State of Brand Vaughan meeting is the presentation of the Row the Boat Award. This award is given to individuals who uphold the Strength Lies Within mission, which is the heart of our company culture.
This year, we introduced a change in the recipients — instead of one person receiving the award, we have chosen five recipients to match the incredible growth of our team. This is a testament to the dedication and hard work of BVL’s team members, both new and long-term.
We are happy to announce and celebrate this year’s Row the Boat Award winners:
- Alhaji Sanoh
- Dennis Sasser
- Karen Garcia
- Kevan McAdams
- Tommy Peterman
Their hard work and dedication throughout 2023 reflected the incredible values that they represented within their teams and their communities.
2024 Goals: Prioritizing Team Members and Customers
Our State of Brand Vaughan meeting is not just about celebrating BVL’s successes — it is also about reaffirming our commitment to our customers. We have an energetic, robust, and long-standing culture that is focused on the well-being of our customers and employees. This meeting was another opportunity to celebrate that culture and determine how to continue with even better customer service in the future.
One of our main goals for 2024 is to provide the best tools and resources available to our team for them to thrive and achieve even greater success. We have started investments to empower our team, so everyone can reach their full potential.
As we move through 2024, Brand Vaughan Lumber stands tall, prepared to face whatever challenges and opportunities come our way. By possessing a strong culture, a commitment to excellence and an even greater focus on our customers, we are well-positioned to continue our legacy of success for many years to come.
