Our growth journey has been marked by several acquisitions, and we are very happy that each one brought a wealth of expertise in different product areas. As the company expanded into the structural components phase, it became evident that aligning the Sales Team with this growth was essential. Because acquired businesses had brought specialized knowledge to the table, the decision to reorganize was made — this knowledge needed to be harnessed and strategically integrated into the sales approach. We aimed to break down the silos that had developed over the years and create a cohesive, knowledgeable team that could better serve their diverse customer base and be able to answer all of their questions and concerns.

Traditionally known as a lumber yard offering standard building materials, BVL has evolved significantly, especially through recent acquisitions. The opening of a truss plant marked a notable expansion, but the challenge was ensuring that the Sales Team could effectively sell these newer, more complex products and services and bring them closer to our customers.

The restructured Sales Team addressed this challenge by leveraging the diverse knowledge acquired through acquisitions. With expertise in new product categories, like trusses, and a focus on offering installed services, our Sales Team is now equipped to present a comprehensive catalog of offerings to our customers.

Key team members — such as Tim Watson, promoted to the Product Category position overseeing decking, siding, and roofing are instrumental in educating our Sales Team. This strategic move ensures that the entire team has the knowledge needed to represent these products and services effectively while retaining BVL’s long-standing dedication and commitment to our customers.
